Lectern Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 October 2026

Lectern (“the App”) is developed by Darryl Cauldwell.

Data Collection

The App does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. It has no permission to use the network at all, so nothing you record, write or open in it can leave your Mac through it.

Your Talk Folders

The App reads the talk folder you choose (your script, deck and demo screenshots) and only ever writes inside that folder’s rehearsal folder: your recordings, their transcripts and their reports. It never changes your script, deck or screenshots. The list of recent talks, and your settings, are kept on your Mac.

The sample talk is created in the App’s own container on your Mac.

Microphone

The App asks for access to your microphone so it can record a rehearsal. It records only while you are recording a take, and the recording is saved as a file in your talk folder on your Mac. If you turn on Follow My Voice, the App listens to keep your place in the script; that audio is not stored unless you are also recording.

Speech Recognition

Recordings are transcribed on your Mac using Apple’s on-device speech recognition. macOS may download Apple’s speech model the first time; that download is made by macOS, not by the App, and your audio is not sent anywhere.

Analytics and Tracking

The App contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code. If you have chosen in macOS to share crash data with app developers, Apple may pass crash reports to the developer; that is controlled by your Mac’s settings, not by the App.

Third-Party Services

The App does not communicate with any third-party services or APIs.
